About Jarett Artman

Background

As an engineer and researcher, I’ve always been fascinated by the potential of machine learning and artificial intelligence to solve complex problems and drive innovation. My name is Jarett Artman, and throughout my journey at the University of Central Florida, I’ve had the privilege of working on projects that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

One of my most memorable projects was ‘Auto Caddie’, a system I developed to provide golfers with real-time feedback on their swings. It was an incredible opportunity to combine my passion for golf with my expertise in AI, and seeing the positive impact it had on users was truly rewarding. I’ve also delved into the world of agriculture, researching AI-based weather forecasting models to assist in more efficient and sustainable farming practices.

Beyond academia, I’ve had the chance to hone my skills in both hardware and software development through internships and engineering roles at industry leaders like IBM. These experiences have not only strengthened my technical abilities but have also shaped me as a leader who thrives in challenging environments that push the boundaries of what’s possible with AI.

One of my proudest achievements to date is co-authoring a research paper titled “Enhancing RNN-Based Financial Portfolio Optimization Through Genetic Algorithm Tuning of Sequence Length and Batch Size.” This study represents the culmination of my interests in AI, finance, and problem-solving. By leveraging genetic algorithms to optimize recurrent neural networks for managing financial portfolios, we were able to demonstrate significant improvements in prediction accuracy. It’s this kind of innovative, cross-disciplinary work that truly excites me and drives me to continue exploring the vast potential of AI across various domains.

As I continue on my professional journey, I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve and applying my expertise to solve real-world challenges.

"Engineers build for the future, not merely for the needs of men, but for their dreams as well. Thus, inherently the engineer’s work is a fearless optimism that life will go forward, and that the future is worth working for."
